New York Jets Trade Zach Wilson to Denver Broncos

Former First-Round Pick Departs After Benching

Jets Receive 2024 Draft Pick

NEW YORK -- The New York Jets have traded quarterback Zach Wilson to the Denver Broncos, a person familiar with the deal told The Associated Press on Monday.

The Jets are getting a 2024 draft pick in return for Wilson, who was benched three times in his career and dismissed by fans and media as a first-round bust.

"We appreciate Zach's contributions to the Jets organization and wish him well in his future endeavors," Jets general manager Joe Douglas said in a statement.

Wilson, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, struggled to live up to expectations in New York. He completed just 55.2% of his passes for 4,002 yards, 24 touchdowns and 15 interceptions in 37 games.

The Broncos are hoping that Wilson can provide a spark to their offense, which has struggled to find consistency this season. Denver is currently 3-7 and has the worst passing offense in the NFL.

"We're excited to add Zach to our team," Broncos general manager George Paton said in a statement. "He's a talented young quarterback with a lot of upside, and we believe he can be a part of our future success."

Wilson is expected to start for the Broncos in Week 12 against the Carolina Panthers.
