Harry Kane has suffered an ankle injury that will sideline him for several weeks, Bayern Munich have confirmed.

The England captain sustained the injury in the second half of Bayern's 5-2 win over Darmstadt on Sunday.

Kane underwent surgery on Monday and is expected to be out of action for four to six weeks.

The injury is a major blow to Bayern, who are chasing a treble of Bundesliga, Champions League and DFB-Pokal titles.

Kane has been in excellent form for Bayern this season, scoring 25 goals in all competitions.

The 29-year-old is now expected to miss Bayern's upcoming matches against Borussia Dortmund, Paris Saint-Germain and RB Leipzig.
