Fans swear Adler Mannheim on new season

Adler Mannheim started the new season with a 5-2 home win against ERC Ingolstadt on Friday night.

Around 10,000 fans welcomed the players around captain Markus Eisenschmid in the sold-out SAP Arena.

In front of a sold-out crowd of around 10,000 fans, they were able to enforce their will on the opponent over long stretches of the game. Ben Smith (3rd), Tim Wohlgemuth (20th), Nigel Dawes (31st), Jordan Szwarz (47th) and Matthias Plachta (58th) scored the goals for the eagles. For Ingolstadt, Louis Brune (34th) and David Warsofsky (59th) scored. With the win, Adler Mannheim moved to the top of the DEL table with six points from two games.

Adler Mannheim started the game with a lot of pressure and had some good chances to score early on. The Eagles took the lead in the third minute when Ben Smith scored after a nice combination with Nigel Dawes and Mark Katic. Ingolstadt came into the game better after the goal and had a few good chances to equalize. However, Adler Mannheim goalkeeper Felix Brückmann was up to the task.

In the second third, the game was more balanced. Both teams had their chances, but neither could score. Ingolstadt equalized in the 34th minute through Louis Brune, but Mannheim responded quickly and regained the lead in the 47th minute through Jordan Szwarz. Mannheim's Nigel Dawes increased the lead to 3-1 in the 31st minute before Ingolstadt reduced the lead to 3-2 through David Warsofsky in the 59th minute. Mannheim then closed the game with another goal by Matthias Plachta in the 58th minute.

Adler Mannheim played a strong game and deserved to win. The team showed a lot of energy and commitment and was able to enforce their will on the opponent over long stretches of the game. Mannheim will now face ERC Ingolstadt again on Sunday.
